Authorities in St. Vincent and the Grenadines reported that the aircraft experienced difficulties shortly after takeoff and fishermen and divers went to the scene to help. All four bodies have been recovered, and the cause of the crash remains under investigation.

Just days before the accident, Oliver had expressed excitement for the new year, while a colleague and director shared that Oliver had just completed filming his role in the thriller, Forever Hold Your Peace. The statement from the Royal St. Vincent and the Grenadines Police Force expressed condolences and appreciation for the efforts of the fishermen and divers who assisted in the retrieval operation.
