Tiffin, Ohio — A tragic incident unfolded Wednesday evening, resulting in the deaths of two children and two adult men in what authorities are investigating as a murder-suicide. Police Chief David Pauly confirmed the event took place in a residence on Huss Street shortly before 6:30 p.m.
Officers were dispatched to the scene following reports of gunfire and screams. Upon arrival, they discovered an adult man, along with two boys, suffering from gunshot wounds. A woman present at the location was unharmed but appeared to be in shock. The man and one of the boys were declared dead at the scene. The second boy and the woman, identified as the boys’ mother, were rushed to a local hospital; however, the child later succumbed to his injuries.
Outside the home, emergency responders found a second adult man who had died from what appears to be a self-inflicted gunshot wound. Preliminary reports indicate that a handgun was involved in the incident. Chief Pauly stated that the investigation is currently being treated as a homicide-suicide, with assistance from the Ohio Bureau of Criminal Investigation.
The identities and ages of those involved have not yet been disclosed, and authorities confirmed there is no known connection between the adult men and the children. Tiffin residents are grappling with the shock of this violent occurrence, which is uncommon for the community.
