PENSACOLA, Fla. — A tragic incident unfolded early Friday morning when a mobile home fire claimed the lives of two children in Escambia County. Authorities report that the fire was deliberately ignited following the alleged murder of the children by a 27-year-old man.
John Henry Walston Jr. faces serious charges including two counts of premeditated murder, one count of sexual assault against a child under the age of 12, and arson. He is currently being held without bond at the local jail, according to the Escambia County Sheriff’s Office.
The fire broke out just before 1 a.m., and upon arrival, firefighters found the home engulfed in flames. Inside, they discovered the bodies of a 7-year-old and a 9-year-old, along with a deceased dog.
