Authorities have reported that Bre’Yon was placed in the care of 21-year-old Nicco Cotton, identified as a close associate of Wells. Cotton has been charged with several serious offenses, including second-degree murder and forcible sodomy, following an incident that occurred on October 27. He reportedly confessed to strangling and assaulting the young boy before turning himself in to authorities.
Investigators have revealed disturbing details surrounding Bre’Yon’s injuries. Once taken to Cardinal Glennon Hospital, medical staff indicated that the child’s injuries were consistent with abuse. Tragically, he succumbed to multiple internal injuries and asphyxia, which included a lacerated liver and signs of sexual assault.
Reflecting on the situation, Wells shared her sorrow and frustration, stating that she believed Bre’Yon was safe in the care of someone she trusted. After completing a 10-hour work shift, she received the devastating news, leaving her grappling with feelings of helplessness.
