WASHINGTON – Two women in D.C. are facing charges of killing a man and cutting off his thumb in an alleged attempt to steal his money. The victim was reported to have been involved in a relationship with one of the suspects.
The accused individuals have been identified as 19-year-old Audrey Denise Miller and 22-year-old Tiffany Taylor Gray. The body of the victim, 53-year-old Fasil Teklemariam, was discovered in his apartment on April 5, showing signs of a violent struggle.
According to investigators, Teklemariam had suffered numerous cuts to his legs, a cut on his right hand, and his right thumb had been severed. The medical examiner’s report revealed fatal injuries, including a stab wound to the heart and a fractured skull.
A witness came forward, disclosing that Miller and another woman, identified as Gray, were responsible for removing the victim’s thumb. Shockingly, Gray allegedly used the severed thumb to pay for services, such as Uber, marijuana, and alcohol.
Surveillance footage captured the suspects and at least two other individuals wearing masks, removing items from Teklemariam’s residence. Both Miller and Gray have been charged with first-degree murder and armed felony murder, with legal proceedings ongoing for Miller.
Efforts to locate the victim’s missing thumb and stolen electronics from his home are still ongoing. Gray remains in custody as authorities work towards her extradition to D.C. from Prince George’s County.
