The Edgewater Police Department’s investigation revealed that the fatal altercation between Adam Fresquez and another man culminated in a shooting at the Tesla charging station on May 3, 2023. Through the issuance of an autopsy report, it was determined that Adam had sustained two gunshot wounds to his back during the tragic incident.
Following seven months of pursuit, the suspect, Jeremy Smith, was apprehended in December and now faces charges of second-degree murder and manslaughter in connection with Adam’s untimely death. Currently incarcerated at the Jefferson County Jail on a $150,000 bail, Smith is scheduled for an arraignment on May 20 to address the allegations against him.
