Teenagers Admit Guilt in Rochester Father’s Murder Through Armed Robbery

ROCHESTER, N.Y. – Three teenagers have confessed to their involvement in an armed robbery that resulted in the death of a Rochester father. The victim, Kailee White, lost his life in July 2022 on Jay Street, when he was fatally shot while sitting in his vehicle at 7 a.m.

Nineteen-year-old Jeyzon Cotton, one of the three teens present during the robbery, admitted to pulling the trigger and was sentenced to 24 years in prison. The tragic loss of White deeply affected his friends and loved ones, with a close friend, Sidney Parris, expressing devastation and disbelief at the circumstances of the murder.

According to reports, Cotton, along with Tyron Sanders and India Barr-Blount, had planned to rob White. Both Sanders and Barr-Blount have pleaded guilty to attempted robbery and are each facing sentences of 10 years in prison. Parris remembered White as someone who would have helped anyone in need, and was deeply troubled by the senseless violence of his friend’s murder.

Parris shared that White would have willingly given the shirt off his back and was always ready to support others in difficult situations. White’s generous nature made the circumstances of his death even more heartbreaking for those who knew and cared for him.

The painful impact of White’s death serves as a reminder of the devastating consequences of violent crime in the community. The guilty pleas of the teenagers involved bring some closure to the case, but the loss of White is felt deeply by those who knew and loved him. The tragic outcome of the attempted robbery underscores the importance of addressing social issues that may contribute to such incidents in order to prevent similar tragedies in the future.
