Teen Jesus Ayala Faces New Attempted Murder Charge in Fatal Bicyclist Case, Prosecutors Seek Indictment Addition

LAS VEGAS, NV – A teenager in Las Vegas, accused of a hit-and-run that resulted in the death of a retired police chief, is now facing a new charge of attempted murder. This charge is separate from the original case but prosecutors are seeking to combine the two cases. The 18-year-old, Jesus Ayala, was charged earlier this month for a stabbing incident that occurred in the Vegas area, two months prior to the hit-and-run incident.

Authorities claim that Ayala and another person allegedly used brass knuckles and knives to assault a man on the street, resulting in multiple lacerations to his torso and near his head. As a result of this new information, the state is looking to add the attempted murder charge to Ayala’s original case through a new indictment, according to legal documents obtained by TMZ.

In the original case, Ayala was accused of being behind the wheel of a stolen car when he ran over a bicyclist, resulting in the death of retired police chief, Andreas Probst. Prosecutors are also looking to add the attempted murder charge from the stabbing incident to the original charges, arguing that the two cases are related.

Ayala’s legal team is pushing back against the amended charges, claiming that the prosecution’s original case against their client is weak, and adding something new in the 11th hour. The judge has yet to rule on the matter.

The case continues to unfold as the teenager faces additional charges for the separate incidents. The prosecution is seeking to strengthen their case against Ayala, while his defense team is challenging the new charges, setting the stage for a legal battle in the Nevada courts.
