Teen Fatally Shot on L.A. Metro Bus

LOS ANGELES, CA – A young nursing student’s life was tragically cut short in a shooting on a Metro bus near Los Angeles International Airport, leaving her family devastated and demanding justice. A 16-year-old suspect is in custody, and the family is calling for him to be tried as an adult.

Anastasia Mirallas, 18, was returning from a day at the beach with her boyfriend when the situation turned deadly. The incident began with an alleged confrontation by another passenger targeting her boyfriend. Mirallas attempted to intervene using pepper spray.

The altercation escalated, resulting in the suspect reportedly firing multiple shots, striking Mirallas in the chest. Despite efforts to save her, she succumbed to her injuries at the hospital. Her family, including her mother and five siblings, is overwhelmed with grief.

“She was a beacon of love and hope,” said her cousin Emily Garcia, reflecting on the void left by Mirallas’s death. The family is urging that the suspect face adult charges, believing it is a necessary step toward justice.

A GoFundMe page has been established to aid the family, and a community fundraiser is scheduled for Sunday in Culver City. Information about these efforts can be accessed online.

The tragic event has sparked a wave of support from the community, which stands united with the family in their quest for justice and in remembrance of Mirallas’s promising life.
