Teacher Ondria Glaze Honored with Scholarship Fundraiser after Tragic Murder-suicide

Philadelphia, Pennsylvania – An unfortunate incident unfolded in Philadelphia’s Grays Ferry neighborhood, where two individuals were discovered deceased in what authorities suspect to be a murder-suicide.

The tragic event occurred on May 6 when law enforcement responded to a residence on the 1300 block of South 30th Street following reports of gunshots. Upon entering the home, officers found two individuals with gunshot wounds.

Ondria Glaze, a 36-year-old individual and esteemed teacher at Olney High School, sustained a gunshot wound to her right cheek. The second victim, identified as Richard Harper, 42, had a self-inflicted gunshot wound to his head, with a firearm found nearby.

Both Glaze and Harper were pronounced dead at the scene by medical personnel. Glaze’s passing prompted Olney High School to set up a fundraiser for a scholarship in her honor.

The “Ondria Glaze Olney Love Scholarship” aims to memorialize Glaze’s lasting impact on her students and colleagues. The funds raised will go towards a yearly scholarship for a graduating senior, ensuring that Glaze’s legacy lives on through supporting the educational aspirations of students.

In response to the heartbreaking loss, Philadelphia Federation of Teachers President Jerry T.
