SWAT team members hospitalized after explosion during training in Irvine

Irvine, California – Sixteen members of the Orange County Sheriff’s Department SWAT team found themselves in the emergency room after an explosion occurred during an indoor training session on Wednesday afternoon. The incident took place at an FBI training facility in the area, leaving one person with a leg injury requiring surgery, while two others sustained superficial wounds that did not necessitate surgery. The remaining 13 team members reported symptoms of dizziness and ringing in their ears.

The cause of the explosion remains unclear as authorities continue to investigate the incident. Fortunately, most of the injured SWAT members have already been discharged from the hospital, according to Sheriff’s Sgt. Frank Gonzalez. No FBI personnel were harmed during the incident, as confirmed by bureau spokesperson Laura Eimiller.
