JACKSON, Miss. — A suspect facing charges for the fatal shooting of a Hinds County deputy has been denied bond by a local court. The defendant, whose actions have drawn significant public attention, remains in custody at the Hinds County Detention Center in Raymond.
The suspect, identified as 26-year-old Jones, faces charges of murder and grand larceny. During recent court proceedings, testimonies revealed that Jones allegedly shot Deputy Dotson multiple times before fleeing the scene in the deputy’s vehicle, a Dodge Charger. Investigators later located the stolen car in Jackson, and it is reported that Jones was also found with Dotson’s cell phone.
