Suicidal Texas mother sends chilling message before murder-suicide: Sheriff unveils shocking timeline

San Antonio, Texas – A heartbreaking tragedy unfolded in San Antonio, Texas, as a mother took her own life and that of her 3-year-old son. Before the devastating event, the mother, Savannah Samantha Kriger, recorded a chilling 21-second video near the drainage ditch where their bodies were later found. In a text message to her ex-husband, Kriger cruelly stated, “Say goodbye to your son.” Bexar County sheriff’s deputies discovered Kriger and her son Kaiden’s lifeless bodies in a ditch near Tom Slick Park in San Antonio on March 19.

During a news conference, Bexar County Sheriff Javier Salazar revealed that Kriger’s death was ruled a suicide, while Kaiden’s death was classified as a homicide. The sheriff reconstructed the events leading up to the tragic murder-suicide. Kriger and her son were reported missing the day before the discovery of their bodies. According to Salazar, Kriger went to her ex-husband’s home, where she caused damage to various items before leaving with Kaiden.

Upon returning home, Kriger shot her wedding portraits, leaving the sheriff’s deputies perturbed. The chilling sequence of events continued as Kriger picked up Kaiden from daycare and made a final call and text to her ex-husband before heading to Tom Slick Park. There, a heartbreaking video was recorded, showing Kriger and Kaiden sitting near the ditch. The ex-husband, realizing something was amiss, called 911, but it was too late.

Salazar shared that Kriger legally obtained a gun from a friend, which was found at the crime scene. Despite the tragedy, he expressed uncertainty about whether it could have been prevented due to the timing of the search. The sheriff emphasized the importance of not hesitating to call for a welfare check when concerned about someone’s well-being. The loss of Savannah Kriger and her young son serves as a poignant reminder of the devastating impact of mental health crises.
