Broward detectives arrested 28-year-old Manuel Farfan-Cabello after his mother was found fatally stabbed at their Northwest 28th Avenue home.
TAMARAC, Fla. — A 28-year-old man has been charged with first-degree murder after Broward County authorities accused him of fatally stabbing his mother at their Tamarac home Friday night, according to the Broward Sheriff’s Office.
Deputies identified the victim as Ylda Cabello-Ynocente, 58. Her son, Manuel Farfan-Cabello, was arrested after homicide detectives investigated the stabbing at the residence. Authorities have not publicly explained what they believe led to the killing, and the investigation remains active.
Broward County Regional Communications received a report of a stabbing at about 7:45 p.m. Oct. 9 at 5301 N.W. 28th Ave., according to the sheriff’s office. Deputies assigned to the Tamarac district and Tamarac Fire Rescue responded to the home.
Deputies found Cabello-Ynocente suffering from multiple stab wounds. Emergency personnel pronounced her dead at the scene. The sheriff’s office said Farfan-Cabello, who lived at the same address, was also at the scene when authorities arrived.
Detectives from the Broward Sheriff’s Office Homicide Unit were called to investigate. The agency said investigators determined through investigative methods that Farfan-Cabello was responsible for the fatal stabbing. Authorities have not released additional details about the evidence they relied on in making that determination.
Farfan-Cabello was arrested and taken to the Broward County Main Jail. He faces one count of first-degree murder. The charge is an accusation, and the criminal case will determine whether prosecutors can prove the allegation in court.
The case developed from an initial response to a reported stabbing into a homicide investigation that continued into the following day. Early reports from authorities said a suspect had been detained while detectives worked to establish what happened. The sheriff’s office later identified Farfan-Cabello as Cabello-Ynocente’s son and announced his arrest.
Authorities have not released a detailed account of the events immediately preceding the stabbing. No motive has been announced, and investigators have not publicly described any argument or other circumstances that may have led to the violence.
Cabello-Ynocente’s death remains under investigation by the Broward Sheriff’s Office Homicide Unit. Detectives have released the identities of the victim and accused man but have not disclosed further findings about what preceded the stabbing.
