Socialite on Trial for Alleged Murder in High-Speed Crash That Killed Two Kids

VAN NUYS, LOS ANGELES – A Westlake Village socialite, Rebecca Grossman, is on trial for the alleged murder of two young boys, Mark and Jacob Iskander, along with additional charges of vehicular manslaughter and hit-and-run driving resulting in death. The tragic incident took place on September 29, 2020, when the accused was driving a white Mercedes, leaving a Mexican restaurant happy hour.

The prosecution alleges that Grossman, along with her then-boyfriend, former Dodgers pitcher Scott Erickson, engaged in a reckless race, driving their respective vehicles at dangerously high speeds. Witnesses recounted seeing and hearing the two vehicles speeding down the street, with one bicyclist describing the force as if someone had physically tried to push him toward the sidewalk. The prosecution claims that Grossman’s vehicle was traveling at speeds of up to 81 mph in a 45 mph zone.

Nancy Iskander, the mother of the two boys, tearfully testified in court, claiming that she knows who killed her sons based on what she saw and heard in the moments before the tragic incident. Iskander vividly described the harrowing experience of seeing the speeding vehicles while crossing the street with her sons, and the split-second decision she made to protect her youngest son as the vehicles approached.

Iskander’s emotional testimony detailed the heart-wrenching moments following the crash, where she desperately searched for her two older boys and found them injured. Tragically, Mark did not survive, while Jacob died shortly after being rushed to the hospital. The defense has challenged Iskander’s testimony, casting doubt on the exact sequence of events leading up to the crash.

As the trial unfolds, the defense is working to build its case, suggesting that Erickson may have been the one who hit the boys and subsequently collided with Grossman’s SUV. They aim to show inconsistencies in the testimonies and present evidence to support their theory. Meanwhile, the prosecution is steadfast in holding Grossman accountable for the tragic events of that fateful day. The trial continues to unfold as both sides present their arguments and evidence to seek justice for the devastating loss of the Iskander boys.
