SAN ANTONIO — A tragic shooting at a landscaping company left four people dead, including the suspected gunman, on Saturday morning. The incident unfolded at Mission Landscaping just before 8 a.m. in the vicinity of Jung Road and Stahl Park.
According to the San Antonio Police Department, three employees—a woman and two men—were confirmed dead at the scene, while several others may have sustained injuries. Emergency responders flooded the area as law enforcement, including SWAT and K-9 units, initiated a comprehensive search for the shooter.
Authorities later discovered the suspect nearby, suffering from a self-inflicted gunshot wound. Initial investigations suggest the attack was targeted rather than random. “The motive is still unclear, but we believe it was not a case of indiscriminate violence,” said Police Chief William McManus.
Residents living in close proximity were advised to stay indoors during the search, as the gunman made brief attempts to evade capture. Wilmer Perez, whose aunt worked at Mission Landscaping, waited anxiously for updates about her safety. “We were worried sick because she was on the job,” Perez shared.
After a tense four-hour standoff, officers located the suspect, effectively bringing an end to the ordeal. The police have since intensified their investigation to uncover both the identity of the gunman and the underlying motive for the attack.
As the community grapples with the aftermath of this tragedy, discussions surrounding workplace safety and mental health have resurfaced. Local officials and community leaders are urging for heightened awareness and support systems to prevent such incidents in the future.
The investigation remains active, with authorities conducting interviews and collecting evidence from the scene. The entire city mourns the loss of life, while questions linger about the nature of violence in places where people gather to work.
