Shooting Suspect Arrested in East Bay for Fatal Mission District Incident

San Francisco, California – A 30-year-old man was taken into custody on Friday night in the East Bay for the fatal shooting that occurred earlier in the day near Mission and 20th streets, as reported by the San Francisco Police Department.

The suspect, identified as Alexander Martinez, was apprehended in Richmond around 10:20 p.m. on Friday on charges of homicide. He was subsequently booked into San Francisco County Jail early Saturday morning.

The victim, a man in his 20s, was tragically shot and killed around 1:37 p.m. on Friday at the intersection of 20th and Mission streets, close to the El Capitan Hotel and Modern Hair Cuts barbershop, according to police reports.

Upon arrival at the scene, officers discovered an adult male victim with gunshot wounds. Despite the efforts of first responders to save his life, the victim was pronounced dead at the scene.

The victim, who had only been working at the barbershop for a few hours, sought refuge inside the shop after being shot on the streets, where he ultimately collapsed and succumbed to his wounds, according to witnesses.

One witness recounted that the shooter, who was in a white car, shot the victim before fleeing the scene. The witness mentioned that the shooter had been observing the victim from inside the vehicle for some time before the incident.

This incident marks the first homicide in the Mission district this year and the ninth in San Francisco, based on data provided by the San Francisco Police Department.
