JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — A shooting at a hookah lounge left one man dead on Monday night, with reports indicating that the alleged shooter was the individual who called 911 to report the incident. Authorities from the Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office responded to the scene at Medusa Lounge, situated on Baymeadows Road, around 10 p.m.
According to JSO Sergeant Josh Catir, officers were alerted to the shooting shortly before their arrival. Dispatch informed them that the person who made the emergency call was still present at the scene. Upon their arrival, officers quickly detained the suspected shooter while canvassing the area for more information.
During this search, law enforcement found the victim, who had suffered multiple gunshot wounds. Emergency responders from the Jacksonville Fire and Rescue Department arrived soon after and pronounced the man deceased at the scene.
Catir noted that detectives transported the alleged shooter to the JSO headquarters for questioning. “We are currently trying to determine the relationship between the individuals involved, as well as the circumstances that led to the shooting,” he said.
