Shooting Incident in Goodyear: Police Fatally Respond to Armed Suspect After Vehicle Pursuit

Goodyear, Arizona — A police shootout late Wednesday night led to the death of an individual following a reported pursuit involving a stolen vehicle. According to authorities, the incident began around 10:50 p.m. when a license plate reader detected the vehicle near Dysart Road and Interstate 10.

Police officials responded to the alert, locating the stolen vehicle as it entered a parking lot on Dysart Road and Van Buren Street. Upon approach, the driver exited the vehicle and fled on foot. During the ensuing chase, the suspect allegedly brandished a handgun in the roadway, prompting officers to discharge their firearms.

Sgt. Mayra Reeson of the Goodyear Police Department confirmed that three officers fired their weapons to neutralize the perceived threat. Following the incident, first aid was administered to the individual before paramedics pronounced the person dead at the scene.
