JANESVILLE, Wis. — A tragic shooting in a Janesville apartment complex has left three people dead and a fourth seriously injured. Police responded to reports of a family disturbance at the Aspen Square Apartments on Tuesday morning, where the incident unfolded.
Janesville Police Chief Chad Pearson announced during a press conference that officers were initially alerted to a potential family issue in the 2600 block of N. Pontiac Drive shortly before gunfire erupted. Around 11 a.m., authorities received a 911 call reporting shots fired at the location.
Upon arrival, officers entered one of the apartments and found three adults with fatal gunshot wounds. A fourth adult victim was discovered alive but in critical condition. Emergency crews began administering first aid before transporting the injured individual to Mercy Hospital. The current status of the surviving victim remains unknown.
Authorities are still investigating the circumstances surrounding the shooting. Chief Pearson emphasized that there is no ongoing threat to the community. He expressed the profound impact such violence has on victims, their families, and first responders involved in these tragic events.
