Dallas, Texas — A tragic incident unfolded Wednesday afternoon in a busy Walmart parking lot when a man opened fire, injuring two women, before turning the gun on himself. The shooting took place shortly after 3:20 p.m. in the parking lot located at 9300 Forest Lane, near Abrams Road, where panic and chaos ensued amid holiday shoppers.
Authorities reported that the shooter had been following a romantic partner to the store before launching the attack. After shooting both the woman and a bystander, he retreated to his black sedan, where he was later found dead from a self-inflicted gunshot wound. An off-duty police officer discovered the body just moments after the assault.
Both women were immediately transported to a local hospital, where they are reported to be in stable condition, according to Dallas Fire-Rescue. The tense atmosphere of the scene left many witnesses shaken as they tried to comprehend the violence that unfolded.
Tevar Watson, a witness parked next to the gunman’s vehicle, recounted the harrowing moments as the chaos erupted. He described seeing the injured woman, appearing frantic, who then fled the area in a panic. Watson, along with several Walmart employees, rushed to assist her. “There was a lot of blood. A lot of blood,” he said, noting that despite her injuries, she was still able to communicate.
Another witness, Sirrano Keith Baldeo, described how the suspect cornered the first victim between parked cars and began firing multiple shots. “He was pushing the bullets,” Baldeo said, characterizing the gunman as visibly enraged.
Just after the gunfire ceased, witnesses reported that the shooter returned to his car, where a final shot was later heard. In the aftermath, many remained concerned and anxious about the victims’ conditions. Watson expressed relief upon hearing that both women are expected to survive.
Dallas police have since recovered a firearm from the shooter’s vehicle but have not disclosed the identities of anyone involved in the incident. Investigators are treating the shooting as a targeted act of violence, sparking ongoing inquiries into the motives behind the attack.
