BIRMINGHAM, Ala. — A shooting incident in northeast Birmingham has led to the arrest of a local man and the tragic death of a 20-year-old victim. Authorities reported that police were dispatched to the 400 block of Lawson Road after receiving a call about a person who had been shot on February 13 just after 7:30 p.m.
Upon arriving at the scene, officers discovered Eric Clayton unresponsive and suffering from a gunshot wound. Emergency medical personnel quickly transported him to UAB Hospital, where he was pronounced dead the following day.
Within 24 hours of the shooting, Birmingham Police arrested 22-year-old Kenyardus McCall in connection with Clayton’s death. He has been charged with murder and is currently being held at the Jefferson County Jail without the possibility of bond.
