Shooting: Fatal Harris County Incident Leaves Man Dead and 1-Year-Old Unharmed

HARRIS COUNTY, Texas – The Harris County Sheriff’s Office is investigating a shooting that resulted in the death of a man on Saturday evening.
Sheriff Ed Gonzalez disclosed that the incident occurred at the underpass at the 5200 block of Aldine Mail Rt and Eastex Freeway around 6 p.m. The man, a 30-year-old Hispanic, was fatally wounded and later succumbed to his injuries at the hospital. Authorities also revealed that a 1-year-old toddler, believed to be the victim’s child, was present in the vehicle during the shooting but was unharmed.
According to Sheriff Gonzalez, the shooting took place when the man got out of a Ford Explorer and began assaulting another man in a light-colored sedan behind him. The man in the sedan then reportedly shot and wounded the assailant.
Officials are still trying to determine the motive behind the shooting and have urged anyone with information to contact the Harris County Sheriff’s Office.
The sheriff shared that a family member not involved in the shooting arrived at the scene and took the toddler to the hospital for precautionary reasons. Additionally, it remains uncertain whether the shooting was potentially a road rage incident or something entirely different.
Moreover, Sheriff Gonzalez emphasized the need for those with information about the incident to come forward and assist the investigation.
