Shooting at Washington Convention Center Leaves Two Dead and Five Injured: Suspect on the Loose

Washington, D.C. – Two individuals lost their lives and five others sustained injuries in a shooting incident that occurred in the vicinity of the Walter E. Washington Convention Center in Northwest D.C. early Sunday morning.

According to authorities, the shooting unfolded at the intersection of Seventh and P Street NW around 3 a.m. Responding officers discovered two women and three men with gunshot wounds in the 600 block of P Street NW. All five victims were swiftly transported to local hospitals for treatment of their injuries; however, their current conditions remain undisclosed.

Tragically, two 32-year-old men, identified as Anthony Brown of Southeast, D.C. and Jay Lucks of Baltimore, Maryland, were found in the area with fatal gunshot wounds. Both men passed away at the scene.

Law enforcement officials revealed that at least one male suspect managed to flee on foot and is currently at large. Described as last seen in the 700 block of P Street Northwest wearing light pants and a blue shirt, authorities are urging anyone with information or who may have witnessed the incident to contact the department promptly at 202-727-9099. A reward of up to $50,000 is being offered for crucial information leading to the arrest of the suspect.

During a press conference on Sunday morning, Executive Assistant Chief Jeffrey Carroll noted that initial findings suggest “one or more suspects intentionally discharged a firearm at the victims.” The investigation is ongoing as authorities work diligently to gather more information surrounding the incident.
