HOUSTON, Texas — A violent incident at a family gathering in southeast Houston left one person dead and more than a dozen injured early Sunday morning, according to local authorities. The shooting unfolded just before 1 a.m. in the 6000 block of Cherryhill when an uninvited guest arrived, prompting a confrontation that escalated into gunfire.
Police reported that the individual was asked to leave the gathering but retaliated by firing shots as he exited the venue. In the chaotic exchange, multiple attendees returned fire, resulting in a chaotic scene that forced residents to seek shelter as bullets flew.
When officers arrived on the scene, they reported hearing gunshots and encountered several injured victims scattered around the property. Emergency services quickly mobilized, with Houston police devising a plan to transport the wounded to a nearby Jack in the Box for medical attention.
