Shooting at Lincoln University Claims Life and Injures Six Amid Homecoming Chaos

CHESTER COUNTY, Pa. — Tragedy struck Lincoln University during homecoming weekend as a shooting outside the International Cultural Center left one man dead and six others injured Saturday night. The incident occurred just before 9:30 p.m., sending shockwaves through the community.

Jujuan Jeffers, a 25-year-old resident of Wilmington, Delaware, lost his life after sustaining a gunshot wound to the head. Authorities reported that the other six victims, all aged between 20 and 25, are expected to survive their injuries. Among those wounded, one is currently enrolled at Lincoln University while another is an alumnus; the affiliations of the remaining victims are not directly tied to the school.

Zecqueous Morgan-Thompson, also from Wilmington, has been taken into custody and faces charges related to carrying a concealed weapon without a license. Investigators are still determining whether the firearm found on him was involved in the shooting. Chester County District Attorney Christopher de Barrena-Sarobe indicated during a Sunday press conference that authorities believe multiple shooters may have been involved.

“This does not appear to be a premeditated mass casualty event,” de Barrena-Sarobe stated. He emphasized that the circumstances suggest an outbreak of gunfire rather than a targeted attack. The chaos that ensued during the homecoming gathering left many in the community grappling with fear and uncertainty.

Law enforcement officials are urging anyone with information, including photos or videos from the event, to come forward as they try to reconstruct the events leading up to the shooting. The District Attorney has expressed the need for assistance to piece together the timeline and motives behind the unfortunate incident.

As investigations continue, the university community remains on high alert, with officials emphasizing their commitment to safety and support for those affected. Local leaders are calling for a united response to this violence, urging discussions on community safety and preventative measures.

The profound impact of this tragedy extends beyond Lincoln University, resonating throughout Chester County as residents reflect on the events of that night and the ongoing challenges related to gun violence. The community’s resilience will be tested as they seek to heal and address the underlying issues that contributed to this incident.
