Shooting at Culture Lounge Leaves Two Dead and One Injured, Prompts Lease Termination and Investigation by ALE

Greensboro, North Carolina – The property owner of Culture Lounge has decided to terminate their lease after a shooting incident that resulted in the deaths of two men and the hospitalization of a woman, confirmed by city officials in Greensboro. The termination of the lease is set to take effect on Monday, March 11, following the tragic events that unfolded at the club.

Authorities have launched an investigation into Culture Lounge following the shooting that claimed the lives of Mohsin Hamid, 33, and Devonte Johnson, 28. Additionally, a woman was injured and taken to the hospital after the incident that occurred in the early hours of Friday morning.

Reports indicate that approximately 100 patrons were present at the club on Spring Garden Street when gunshots were fired, prompting a swift response from law enforcement and emergency medical services. Despite efforts to save the victims, Hamid, Johnson, and the injured woman required medical attention as a result of the shooting.

Police have indicated that the incident was not a random act of violence, confirming that a fight broke out before the shots were fired. Witnesses recount the heroic actions of Hamid, who jumped in to assist during the altercation but tragically became a victim of the violence himself.

These tragic events have spurred discussions among city officials and local business owners regarding measures to prevent gun violence in bars and clubs. Greensboro Mayor Vaughan has expressed her intention to collaborate with the state ABC commission to address concerns raised by business owners about promoters who may contribute to such incidents.

Despite the efforts to address the issue of gun violence, this incident marks the 10th homicide recorded in Greensboro this year, with no arrests made thus far. The community remains shaken by the loss of life and the impact of such violence on the city.
