SEMINOLE COUNTY, Fla. – After facing two significant cases of animal cruelty in the past year, Seminole County Animal Services is currently at full capacity, with a surplus of dogs and cats in need of loving homes.
To address the issue, Animal Services has launched its ‘Seniors for Seniors’ campaign, aimed at finding families for senior dogs and cats. Throughout the entire month of January, residents over the age of 60 will have the opportunity to adopt senior dogs and cats, 6 years or older, at no cost. The program is designed to bring joy to the lives of senior individuals by providing them with the companionship of a dog or cat.
One of the senior dogs available for adoption is Vader, a 7-year-old pup with a heartwarming story. According to Steve Learner, the Interim Manager of Animal Services, senior dogs like Vader have often been through a lot and are eager to give and receive love and attention. Learner also mentioned the benefits of seniors adopting senior pets, citing the positive impact on individuals’ mental and physical well-being.
