Self-Inflicted Gunshot Claimed the Life of Suspected Joliet Shooter

Joliet, Illinois – Authorities in Joliet, Illinois discovered a gruesome crime scene on Monday, with seven people found shot to death in two homes. The suspect, Romeo Nance, is believed to have died from a self-inflicted gunshot, closing the chapter of a shocking and tragic series of events in the Chicago suburb.

The police had been investigating two separate shootings that took place on Sunday, including a fatal shooting in Joliet Township. This led them to the discovery of the bodies on Monday morning. The victims were found in two homes, and an eighth person, found deceased on Sunday, is also believed to have been killed by Nance.

Following a manhunt, U.S. Marshals located Nance near Natalia, Texas, and it is believed that he took his own life with a handgun after a confrontation with Texas law enforcement officials. Authorities believe that the domestic shootings on Sunday had some correlation with the horrific scene they discovered on Monday.

Joliet Police Chief Bill Evans described the crime scene as “probably the worst” he had ever seen in his 29 years as a policeman. The victims in the homes were known to Nance, and it was revealed that Nance’s last known address was on the block where the crimes were discovered.

The investigation into the motive for the shootings is ongoing, and authorities have not yet determined a clear reason behind the horrific events. The sheriff’s office revealed that they had also responded to an emergency call on Sunday in a related incident, as well as a non-fatal shooting in Joliet. Both of these incidents took place on the same day as the tragic events that unfolded.
