Security Guard Fatally Stabbed at Austin Club, Police Seek Witnesses

AUSTIN, Texas – In October 2014, tragedy struck at El Agazajo club in southeast Austin, off U.S. 183 near the airport. Richard Escalante, a 28-year-old security worker at the club, was brutally stabbed in the back parking lot, resulting in his untimely death just after midnight that night.

According to a detective closely involved in the case, Escalante was found alive but unable to speak, prompting emergency medical services to rush him to the hospital. Despite efforts to save him, Escalante succumbed to his injuries from multiple stab wounds. The violent incident occurred while Escalante was conversing with customers between two cars in the club’s parking lot.

Police have been diligently investigating the case, following leads and pursuing possible suspects. However, no arrests have been made, leaving the community on edge and the victim’s loved ones seeking justice for his senseless murder. Detectives have encountered challenges in obtaining strong DNA profiles of the suspect due to an abundance of the victim’s DNA on various pieces of evidence.

The shared parking lot where the tragedy occurred, encompassing several buildings including the club, a food trailer, and a restaurant, offered multiple potential witnesses. Reports of speeding vehicles fleeing from the club have surfaced, prompting detectives to seek additional information or descriptions from the public in hopes of unraveling the mystery behind Escalante’s demise.

As the investigation continues, authorities urge anyone with information about the tragic event to come forward and assist in bringing closure to the case. Those with relevant details are encouraged to contact Crime Stoppers at 512-472-8477 (TIPS) to provide valuable tips that could potentially lead to solving this heartbreaking crime.
