Reward Offered: $18,000 Cash for Information on Hillcrest High School Freshman’s Fatal Shooting

COUNTRY CLUB HILLS, Ill. – Community groups in Country Club Hills, Illinois are now offering an $18,000 cash reward for information leading to the arrest and conviction of the person who shot and killed a Hillcrest High School freshman. 14-year-old Marshawn Mitchell was tragically shot after a homecoming football game on Sept. 15. Police have stated that Mitchell was not the intended target of the shooting.

As authorities continue their investigation, Mitchell’s mother, Amanda Lenoir, and his closest relatives have been actively seeking justice for her son. Lenoir, who described Marshawn as her only child, has been distributing flyers to teenagers, imploring anyone with information about her son’s murder to come forward.

The shooting occurred not on school property, but as officers were attempting to disperse a large crowd near 174th Street and Pulaski following the game. Despite the passage of a full season, no one has been arrested for Mitchell’s death. The community is rallying in solidarity with Lenoir, offering an $18,000 reward for any information that may lead to the identification of the perpetrator.

The Country Club Hills police chief has assured the public that investigators are diligently working on the case and are actively pursuing credible leads. Lenoir continues to plead for anyone with information to come forward. The heartbroken mother hopes that the community will come together to bring closure and justice for her son.

The loss of her son has deeply impacted Lenoir, who, in a heartfelt plea, implores anyone with information to come forward. “I’m begging you from one mother to another,” she said. The family remains hopeful that the perpetrator will be brought to justice, and community members are encouraged to reach out to the Country Club Hills police with any relevant information.
