Court records say the defendants face separate felony counts after police searched a Washington County home.
OAKDALE, Minn. — A Washington County child sexual abuse investigation has led to felony charges against an Oakdale couple after police said a 14-year-old girl was found hidden in a box inside a bedroom.
The case centers on Angelina Olson, 46, and Andrew Olson, 48, who are charged in separate complaints filed May 29. Prosecutors allege conduct involving a juvenile victim and evidence found during the investigation. The girl has not been identified publicly because of her age.
Police said the investigation began with the search for a missing teenager. Officers went to the Oakdale residence and found the girl alive in a cardboard box in a bedroom, according to reports on the case. The discovery led investigators to gather statements, review the circumstances inside the home and examine electronic materials. Officials have not publicly answered several key questions, including how long the girl was at the residence.
Angelina Olson faces one count of first-degree criminal sexual conduct and one count of soliciting a child to engage in sexual conduct. The complaint alleges the victim was between 14 and 16 and that Olson was more than 36 months older than the victim. The solicitation count alleges conduct involving a child under 16. Prosecutors listed the first-degree count as the most serious charge in her case.
Andrew Olson faces three counts of possessing child sexual abuse material and one count of soliciting a child to engage in sexual conduct. Investigators allege he knowingly possessed electronic files containing child sexual abuse material. The complaint identifies separate possession counts tied to electronic storage devices or computer systems. The solicitation count carries a possible maximum penalty of three years in prison and a $5,000 fine.
The case is in its early court stage. Prosecutors have filed charges, but no trial has been held and no findings of guilt have been made. Future hearings are expected to address court appearances, evidence, attorney filings and scheduling. Additional details may emerge through public court records as the cases move forward.
The allegations have drawn attention in Oakdale because of the victim’s age and the way police say she was found. Authorities have not announced whether more charges are being considered. As of June 4, both cases remained pending in Washington County District Court.
