Palm Bay Shooter Facing First-Degree Murder Charges

PALM BAY, Fla. — Ta’Shawn Taylor is being charged with three counts of first-degree murder and two counts of attempted first-degree murder following a shooting at a Palm Bay apartment complex on Saturday night.

During his initial court appearance following his arrest, Taylor appeared to be confused at times. After several attempts by Judge Judith Atkin to confirm whether Taylor wanted a court-appointed attorney, he accepted one. Bond was denied for Taylor.

Palm Bay police responded to a 911 call at the Woodlake apartment complex just before 9:30 p.m. and discovered three individuals shot to death: 79-year-old Stephen Suglam, 60-year-old Angela Suglam, and 31-year-old Lisa Suglam. Two others, including a 15-year-old, were found with gunshot wounds. Multiple witnesses led the police to Taylor, who also resided in the same building where the shooting occurred.

Authorities believe the shooting was a domestic incident, as some of the victims were family members of the suspect. According to the arrest affidavit, one witness stated that he pretended to be dead after one of the victims fell on top of him.

After a brief car chase, 26-year-old Taylor was apprehended, and police found a gun in the passenger seat of the vehicle. Taylor’s next court date is scheduled for Feb. 22. He is facing serious charges and is being held accountable for his alleged involvement in the tragic event at the apartment complex.
