IDAHO FALLS, IDAHO – A disturbing case unfolded in Idaho as Jeremy Best, found naked at a general store, later committed a heinous crime that shocked the community. Hours after his peculiar behavior in the store, Best allegedly murdered his wife and kidnapped their son before being discovered naked again on the side of the road with the infant’s lifeless body nearby.
Best, 50, recently pleaded guilty to first-degree murder in the death of his son Zeke and second-degree murder in the deaths of his wife Kali and unborn child Freya. This plea deal, made with input from the victims’ family members, spared Best from the death penalty. However, he now faces life in prison, with room for arguments on the sentence’s conditions. The death penalty has been ruled out as part of the agreement.
Best’s sentencing is scheduled to begin on July 23, 2025.
The tragic sequence of events began when Best was found naked at a local general store, prompting police to take him to the hospital and later discharge him on the same day. Subsequently, Kali was found dead at their residence, reportedly shot to death. The following day, authorities issued an Amber Alert for young Zeke, naming Best as a suspect in both homicide and kidnapping.
After a manhunt, Best was taken into custody, and sadly, Zeke was found dead. Best allegedly inflicted a fatal neck injury on Zeke using a knife. Following a conservatorship and a deemed competency to stand trial, Best initially pleaded not guilty in January 2024.
The case has gripped the community, shedding light on the devastating consequences of such violent acts. The upcoming sentencing will mark an important chapter in seeking justice for the victims and their loved ones in this heartbreaking tragedy.
