Manhattan, New York City – Two suspects are being sought for murder in connection to the death of a 52-year-old woman who was found with blunt force trauma to the head in her mother’s Manhattan apartment, according to police sources.
The victim, Nadia Vitel, had traveled from Spain to the U.S. to prepare her deceased mother’s apartment for a family friend. The apartment, located in the Kips Bay neighborhood, had been unoccupied since Vitel’s mother’s passing a few months prior.
Upon entering the apartment, Vitel discovered two individuals living there, believed to be squatters. A confrontation ensued, leading to Vitel being thrown into a sheetrock wall before the suspects fled the scene in her Lexus. They reportedly drove to New Jersey and then Pennsylvania, where they were involved in a crash near Harrisburg.
Concerned after not hearing from his mother for two days, Vitel’s son, along with other family members and the building superintendent, entered the apartment and discovered her body in a duffel bag inside a closet. Authorities ruled Vitel’s death a homicide due to the severe head injuries she sustained.
