Murdered Woman Found in Manhattan Apartment After Confronting Squatters

Manhattan, New York City – Two suspects are being sought for murder in connection to the death of a 52-year-old woman who was found with blunt force trauma to the head in her mother’s Manhattan apartment, according to police sources.

The victim, Nadia Vitel, had traveled from Spain to the U.S. to prepare her deceased mother’s apartment for a family friend. The apartment, located in the Kips Bay neighborhood, had been unoccupied since Vitel’s mother’s passing a few months prior.

Upon entering the apartment, Vitel discovered two individuals living there, believed to be squatters. A confrontation ensued, leading to Vitel being thrown into a sheetrock wall before the suspects fled the scene in her Lexus. They reportedly drove to New Jersey and then Pennsylvania, where they were involved in a crash near Harrisburg.

Concerned after not hearing from his mother for two days, Vitel’s son, along with other family members and the building superintendent, entered the apartment and discovered her body in a duffel bag inside a closet. Authorities ruled Vitel’s death a homicide due to the severe head injuries she sustained.

The two suspects are currently on the run, evading law enforcement as the investigation into the case continues. Anyone with information about the suspects or the incident is urged to contact the authorities immediately.

The tragic death of Nadia Vitel serves as a grim reminder of the dangers associated with unoccupied properties and the potential risks of encountering unknown individuals in such settings. The case highlights the importance of ensuring the safety and security of vacant spaces, particularly in urban areas where squatting and unauthorized occupation can pose serious threats to individuals and property owners.

As the search for the suspects intensifies, the community is urged to remain vigilant and report any relevant information that could assist in apprehending those responsible for this heinous crime. The loss of Nadia Vitel has left a profound impact on her loved ones and the community at large, underscoring the importance of swift and thorough justice in cases of violence and criminal acts.
