Murder: Tamil Nadu Mother and Partner Arrested in Shocking Case of Infant’s Death After Allegations of Strangulation and Smothering

Krishnagiri, India — A woman and her partner have been arrested in connection with the death of the woman’s six-month-old baby, an incident that has shocked this Tamil Nadu community. The arrests came just days after the child’s father raised suspicions about the circumstances surrounding the infant’s death.

Authorities were initially informed that the baby had apparently died while being breastfed at home. Despite the alarming nature of these events, local police categorized the death as unnatural but did not conduct an autopsy or further investigate at that time. The infant was laid to rest on the family’s agricultural property shortly after.

Following the child’s death, the father approached law enforcement with concerns after discovering disturbing evidence, including messages and photographs, suggesting a tumultuous relationship between his wife and her partner. He expressed fears that his baby might have been harmed as a result of the pressures stemming from that relationship.

In light of these allegations, authorities took the unusual step to exhume the body for an autopsy. Findings revealed that the infant had been smothered and strangled, prompting an investigation that ultimately led to the arrests of the two women involved.

Police reports indicate that the couple had been in a relationship for three years, but tension reportedly escalated after the birth of the child. During questioning, the mother disclosed her unclear feelings towards motherhood, stating that she did not want to raise the child and felt neglected by her husband.

This tragic incident is not isolated. Just last month, a man in Bengaluru was detained for allegedly murdering his girlfriend’s seven-year-old daughter, reportedly due to interruptions during his interactions with the child’s mother. Similarly, earlier this month, another case emerged in which a five-year-old boy was kidnapped and killed by a family driver in response to a domestic dispute with the child’s father.

The increasing number of violent incidents involving children raises concerns about familial tensions and societal pressures. With the ongoing investigation into the case of the baby in Krishnagiri, community sentiment remains tense as residents grapple with the harsh realities of such a tragic loss.
