Investigators in Siaya, Kenya have made significant progress in the case of the murder of Wells Fargo HR Manager Willis Ayieko. A female suspect linked to the crime has sadly passed away after sustaining injuries in a police pursuit. The Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) confirmed the woman’s death on Wednesday, October 30.

During a search operation in Siaya’s Gem Wagai sub-county, authorities managed to recover a pistol that belonged to the late Ayieko. This firearm had been taken from him on the night he was killed. The recovery of the weapon was a crucial development in the ongoing investigation into the homicide.

The breakthrough came after a tip-off from members of the public who reported sighting two individuals, believed to be the suspects, armed in a Toyota vehicle at Wagai Trading Centre. A high-speed chase ensued when police attempted to stop the suspects’ vehicle. The male driver opened fire on the officers before fleeing towards Luanda.

The pursuit culminated in a crash at Adder Farm in the Kagilo area, where the vehicle rolled over. The male suspect managed to escape, leaving behind the injured female passenger, who later succumbed to her injuries at a hospital in Yala. The recovered pistol and ammunition found in the vehicle were positively identified as the ones stolen from Ayieko.

In a parallel operation, detectives located the male suspect’s hideout in the Sagam Trading Centre in Kanyibwop village. Upon searching the premises, law enforcement officials seized various items, including clothing, electronics, and a watch. A woman present at the location was also taken into custody for questioning.
