CHAMBERS COUNTY, Texas – A tragic incident unfolded at the TimeMax convenience store in the Cove area, where a clerk named Ginny Bagby was shot and killed during a robbery. The suspect, Todd Carter, now faces charges of capital murder in connection to this heinous crime.
According to the Chambers County Sheriff’s Office, the robbery took place on a Saturday night around 9:25 p.m. Deputies were alerted to the scene following a report of an aggravated robbery. Upon arrival, they discovered Bagby suffering from a gunshot wound. Despite efforts from EMS and deputies to save her with CPR, Bagby succumbed to her injuries at Memorial Hermann.
A customer present during the incident provided authorities with a description of the suspect, enabling deputies to swiftly locate and pursue the suspect’s vehicle. The driver, identified as Carter, was successfully apprehended by law enforcement.
Sheriff Brian Hawthorne expressed his condolences to the victim’s family and praised the witnesses for their cooperation in helping bring the perpetrator to justice.
