Police responded to welfare checks on Tuesday morning at addresses in Mercer Island and nearby Issaquah, resulting in the discovery of four deceased individuals.
The investigation began after a family attorney expressed concern about the welfare of residents at a home on Wembley Lane, leading officers to the scene around 10:45 a.m. Inside, they found an elderly woman identified as Danielle Cuvillier and her son, Mackenzie Williams, both victims of apparent gunshot wounds. The police believe this incident may classify as a murder-suicide.
As investigators examined the Mercer Island residence, they uncovered multiple firearms. Authorities found indications that the fatalities were contained within a single family dispute. Neighbors later reported that a man with special needs also lived at the home but was absent during the tragic events.
Meanwhile, officers were dispatched to Williams’ residence on Southeast Evans Lane in Issaquah, where two additional victims were discovered, including a woman in her 40s and her brother-in-law. Both deaths are being treated as homicides, adding another layer of complexity to this case.
Court documents reveal an ongoing legal battle between Williams and Cuvillier concerning the care and custody of a special needs relative. Williams had removed his brother from his longtime residence in January, leading to a court ruling that appointed Cuvillier as the guardian. Documents indicated that a visitation schedule was in place, with expectations that Williams would return his brother to his mother’s home shortly before the tragedies occurred.
