Murder-Suicide Tragedy Uncovered in Fort Bend County Home

Fort Bend County, Texas – The Coast Guard’s response to a worried father’s call led to a tragic discovery in Richmond on Monday. Gene Mark Hudson-Sjogreen, who was reported missing after not returning from a fishing trip, was found dead along with his wife, Alba Marina Garcia, in an apparent murder-suicide.

Initially, Hudson-Sjogreen’s family reached out to the Coast Guard out of concern for his safety. The authorities then requested the Fort Bend County Sheriff’s Office to conduct a wellness check at the couple’s residence on Darst Field Trail.

After arriving at the scene, deputies were unable to enter the home due to lack of evidence to justify a forced entry. However, with the family’s growing unease and suspicions, they eventually gained access to the house.

Inside, they tragically discovered the lifeless bodies of Garcia and Hudson-Sjogreen. The investigation revealed that Hudson-Sjogreen had fatally shot his wife before taking his own life.

Sheriff Eric Fagan expressed condolences, recognizing the profound impact such events have on families and society as a whole. Garcia was a fourth-grade teacher at Jane Long Elementary School, while Hudson-Sjogreen taught third grade at Taylor Ray Elementary.

With students on Spring Break, the school district has set up support systems for those affected by the tragedy. Counseling services will be available to both students and staff when classes resume.

The community is left grappling with the shock and sorrow of losing two beloved educators in such a tragic manner. As investigations continue, the profound loss is felt not only by those directly involved but by the entire community.
