Murder-Suicide in Granada Hills Leaves Four Members of the De Leon Family Dead

LOS ANGELES – The Medical Examiner’s office has identified the victims of a murder-suicide in Granada Hills. The incident, which occurred on Saturday evening, claimed the lives of four individuals, two men, and two women.

According to the Los Angeles Police Department, the 79-year-old shooter, identified as Rodrigo De Leon, died from a self-inflicted wound. The victims were his 80-year-old wife, Arabella De Leon, his 53-year-old son, Rodrigo De Leon, and his 49-year-old daughter-in-law, Merceditas De Leon.

The tragic shooting took place in the 11600 block of Lerdo Avenue, and upon responding to the scene, police discovered the deceased individuals inside the home. It was revealed that a witness had called the police after barricading themselves in a room during the shooting.

The LAPD’s Robbery-Homicide Division confirmed that the victims were all related and that they appeared to be a family.
