Murder Charges Denied: Adrian Jelks and Sandra Romero-Nunez Held Without Bond

FAYETTE COUNTY, Ga. – Two suspects facing murder charges in the fatal shooting of a 19-year-old at a Walmart in Fayetteville were denied bond on Tuesday. Adrian Jelks and Sandra Romero-Nunez have been implicated in the March 29 killing of Antavius Holton.

During a hearing at a Fayette County courtroom, a judge decided that both Jelks and Romero-Nunez would remain in custody due to the seriousness of the charges against them. Jelks, an employee at the Walmart, allegedly shot and killed Holton, while Romero-Nunez is believed to have been involved as well.

Jelks, who had attempted to flee but was apprehended on April 3, was denied bond by the judge to prevent any further attempts to escape. The judge also refused to grant bond to Romero-Nunez, stating that her alleged involvement in the crime made it unlikely for her to have not been aware of the situation.

The shooting incident occurred at the Walmart in the Fayette Pavilion shopping center on the night of March 29, resulting in Holton’s death and the injury of a 9-year-old girl who was hit by a stray bullet. Witnesses described the chaotic scene as “terrifying” and expressed their shock at the violence that unfolded.

The tragic events at the Walmart have left the community shaken, with residents expressing fear and disbelief at the senseless act of violence. The victim, Antavius Holton, lost his life in the altercation, while the young girl is expected to recover from her injuries.

As the investigation into the fatal shooting continues, the denial of bond for both suspects underscores the severity of the charges they are facing. The community mourns the loss of a young life and hopes for justice to be served in the case.
