Murder Accusation: Sterling Heights Man Charged in Violent Death of Milford Resident

MILFORD, Mich. — A local man has been charged with first-degree premeditated murder following the death of a 26-year-old resident, whose body was discovered with signs of a violent assault. Authorities arrested Matthew Frank Molinaro, 29, of Sterling Heights, after a welfare check was requested by the victim’s girlfriend on Wednesday.

Peyton Bilbia was found deceased in his home on East Summit Street around 4:25 p.m. Detectives initiated an investigation, during which they identified Molinaro as a suspect based on the evidence they collected. He was taken into custody later that day at a club in Royal Oak.

Milford Police Chief Scott Tarasiewicz confirmed that Molinaro and Bilbia were acquaintances, suggesting that the incident was not a random act of violence. Following his arrest, Molinaro was arraigned in Oakland County, where a judge denied him bond, and he was ordered to remain in jail.

If convicted, Molinaro faces a maximum sentence of life in prison without the possibility of parole. His probable cause conference is scheduled for Jan. 19, as the legal proceedings begin to unfold.

The investigation continues as authorities seek to uncover more details surrounding the circumstances of Bilbia’s death. The community has been left shaken by the events, as local residents reflect on the impacts of such violence in their area.

This tragic incident serves as a haunting reminder of the risks of domestic violence and the importance of community vigilance. The police urge anyone with additional information related to the case to come forward as they work to ensure justice is served.
