Family of 17-year-old continues to push for answers in unsolved case.
SOUTH FULTON, Ga. — Nearly two months after a 17-year-old was found shot to death on Valentine’s Day, police in South Fulton have made no arrests, leaving the teen’s family still searching for answers in the unsolved case.
Jeremiah Gibson, a Tucker High School junior, was discovered dead in a wooded area along Marsham Drive after traveling to visit relatives. Investigators say he suffered a fatal gunshot wound, but key details about how he ended up there remain unclear.
His mother, Tiffany Stone, said the family did not know Gibson’s whereabouts for a period of time before his body was found. She said they later checked a location-sharing app that helped identify where he had last been. “Like, we still don’t really believe it,” she said, describing the shock that followed.
Authorities initially explored the possibility of suicide, but the medical examiner ruled that Gibson had been shot, prompting a homicide investigation. Police have not publicly identified any suspects or disclosed whether they believe the killing was targeted or random.
Gibson’s death has left a deep impact on his family, who describe him as a teenager with strong ambitions and a promising future. He had been accepted into a military academy, a step his mother said reflected his goals and determination.
Stone said her son was deeply connected to his family and enjoyed spending time creating videos with his siblings. She said the loss has been difficult to process, especially as the case remains unresolved.
Investigators have not shared a detailed timeline of Gibson’s movements in the hours before his death. It is also unclear whether witnesses have come forward or if physical evidence has provided any significant leads.
The case has drawn attention in the community, where concerns about youth violence continue to grow. While officials have not linked Gibson’s death to other incidents, the lack of progress has heightened calls for information.
Stone said she continues to hope someone will come forward with information that could help solve the case. “At some point I’m looking for him to come home,” she said, reflecting on the ongoing grief and uncertainty.
Police say the investigation remains active, but have not provided a timeline for when new developments might be announced.
