Medical Center Worker Found Stabbed Inside Parking Garage

A Houston Methodist employee was stabbed and robbed after arriving for work.

HOUSTON, Texas — A Houston Methodist employee was recovering after police said she was stabbed and robbed Monday morning inside a Texas Medical Center parking garage on Fannin Street.

The woman was found in her vehicle about 6:47 a.m. on the fifth floor of Texas Medical Center Garage 1, police said. The attack happened as she arrived for work, drawing officers, hospital security and temporary lockdowns across part of the Houston Methodist campus.

Investigators said the woman suffered several stab wounds and was taken for emergency treatment. Hospital officials said she was later stable and surrounded by family. Police have not released her name. The suspect remained at large Tuesday, and authorities said they were using surveillance images and witness information to track him.

The Houston Police Department is leading the case. Texas Medical Center police first reported that the employee was found inside the garage, and University of Texas police also shared information about the timing and location. Officials said the suspect was last seen leaving the area after the attack.

The stabbing caused alarm across the medical campus, where thousands of workers, patients and visitors move through garages and hospital entrances each day. Houston Methodist said the temporary security measures were precautionary. The hospital said patient care continued while police worked the scene and checked the surrounding area.

Police have not said what was taken during the robbery or whether the victim was targeted. Investigators also have not said whether a weapon was recovered. Detectives were expected to review security video from the garage, examine the victim’s vehicle and look for records showing the suspect’s path before and after the attack.

The case remained active Tuesday with no announced arrest. Hospital leaders said safety remained a priority as officers continued the search. The next public update is expected when police identify a suspect, announce an arrest or release new details from the investigation.
