Massachusetts State Police Launch Cold Case Campaign with Playing Card Deck to Solve 12-Year-Old Murder of Andover Couple

ANDOVER, Mass. – A new initiative by the Massachusetts State Police aims to shed light on a cold case involving the murder of an Andover couple 12 years ago. The campaign involves distributing decks of playing cards to inmates in state prisons, featuring details of unsolved homicides in the hopes of generating new leads.

John and Jeri Magee were found dead in their Orchard Crossing home on Dec. 14, 2011, by their daughter, Holly Senykoff. The couple had been shot multiple times, and their black Lexus SUV was discovered burning in Boston’s North End the night before their bodies were found. The state medical examiner concluded that John had been shot in the head, neck, and chest, while Jeri had been shot once in the head.

According to reports, John Magee had visited a construction site in Reading earlier in the day and had planned to go to Boston to gather building materials. Senykoff had spoken with her mother over the phone around 4:25 p.m. on the same day and believed her father was also in the background.

The Massachusetts State Police detectives assigned to the Essex County District Attorney’s office and the Andover Police Anonymous Tip Line are asking for anyone with information related to the case to come forward – they can be reached at 978-745-8908 and 978-623-3560, respectively.

The murder of John and Jeri Magee remains unsolved, and authorities are hopeful that the distribution of playing cards featuring their case and others will bring forth new leads and help solve the case.
