Mass Murderer Surrenders in Thiruvananthapuram: Claims to Have Killed Six people, Including Brother and Girlfriend

Thiruvananthapuram, India – A young man shocked authorities in Venjaramoodu by confessing to the killing of six individuals, which included his brother and girlfriend. Reports indicate that five bodies have been recovered by the police, confirming the deaths as claimed by the accused. The identified perpetrator, Afan (23) from Perumala, disclosed to law enforcement officials that he had carried out the brutal attacks on his family members and girlfriend across three different residences.

The crime spree began with Afan fatally assaulting his 88-year-old grandmother, Salma Beevi, at her Pangode residence on a Monday evening. He then proceeded to his uncle’s home at SN Puram, where he brutally murdered his uncle Latheef and aunt Shahida. Upon returning to his own house, Afan attacked his younger brother, Afsan (14), mother Shemi, and girlfriend Farsana. Shockingly, all of these heinous acts were committed within a span of just two hours.

Afan’s mother is currently hospitalized in critical condition at Gokulam Medical College Hospital. As reported, Afan had ingested rat poison prior to turning himself in to the authorities, leading to his transportation to Government Medical College Hospital for treatment. Although his health worsened during police interrogation, his condition is now considered stable by sources close to the case.

Neighbors expressed disbelief and shock at the gruesome events, highlighting that Afan appeared to have a close and caring relationship with his younger brother, contrary to his reclusive nature. Speculations about his motive remain unclear to the community, with a particular focus on the unidentified girl found deceased at the scene along with Afan’s brother. Residents expressed confusion over the presence of the girl and the timeline of her involvement with the family.

Amidst rumors of financial struggles following Afan’s return from working in the Gulf region, it was revealed that he had asked his grandmother for financial assistance prior to the tragic events. Allegedly, the mass murder was triggered by the family members’ refusal to provide him with financial support.

The community, still grappling with the shock of the brutal murders, continues to seek answers and make sense of the tragic events that unfolded in the quiet town of Perumala, located just 3 kilometers from Venjarammoodu junction.
