Manhunt launched for attackers in violent Alien Skin incident at Women’s Day celebration

Iganga District, Uganda – The Police in Iganga District are on a mission to apprehend a group of individuals involved in a violent attack on Ugandan musician, Patrick Mulwana, known as Alien Skin.

The incident took place during a belated International Women’s Day celebration on Sunday, April 13, leading to significant damage to Mulwana’s vehicle.

Chaos erupted at Iganga Municipal Council Primary School after Prime Minister Robinah Nabbanja addressed a large crowd gathered for the district’s Women’s Day festivities.

Eyewitnesses have provided conflicting explanations for the violence, with some suggesting it stemmed from derogatory remarks Mulwana made about fellow musician Bobi Wine, causing anger among fans in the audience.

Others claim the situation escalated when a fan tried to join Mulwana on stage but was handled roughly by his security team, resulting in visible injuries.

According to Busoga East Police spokesperson SP Michael Kafayo, the unrest began as Mulwana performed when an enthusiastic fan breached security and attempted to dance with the musician on stage, prompting intervention from Mulwana’s private security.

As tensions rose, some members of the audience began throwing stones towards the stage in protest, prompting Mulwana’s prompt evacuation from the scene to his vehicle. Unfortunately, the angered crowd followed, pelting the car with stones and causing extensive damage.

Kafayo expressed determination to pursue the individuals responsible for the attack, describing them as “rowdy and dangerous.”

This incident adds to a string of controversies surrounding Mulwana’s career, including previous altercations with other artists and violent confrontations at public events. The safety of artists, fans, and overall event security has now become a growing concern in the wake of these incidents.
