Man Faces Charges in Deadly Akron Shootings from 2023, Including Antenio Louis and Marvin Rocker

Akron, Ohio – An 18-year-old man from Akron is facing multiple charges in connection with two separate deadly shootings that occurred in the city last year. Darrin Welch is charged with murder and felonious assault in the August shooting death of Antenio Louis. Louis was killed in a drive-by shooting while he and a 23-year-old driver were traveling down East Glenwood Avenue, where another vehicle blocked them and opened fire, resulting in Louis’ death and injuring the driver.

Welch is the third person to be charged in Louis’ death, with Ahmere Williams facing charges including aggravated murder, murder, felonious assault, and criminal gang activity specifications. Myka Hill also faces charges related to tampering with evidence and obstructing justice in the case. Additionally, Welch is facing charges for his involvement in the shooting death of Marvin Rocker, who was killed in a shootout that took place on March 12, 2023, in Akron.

Akron police responded to reports of shots fired in the area of South Arlington Street and Lovers Lane, where they found Rocker dead with a gunshot wound to the chest. Welch, represented by attorney John Alexander in both cases, is charged with two counts of murder and felonious assault. The incidents highlight the ongoing issue of gun violence in Akron and the challenges law enforcement faces in addressing such crimes.

The community is left reeling from the tragic loss of these young lives and is grappling with the impact of such senseless acts of violence. The charges brought against Welch shed light on the complexity of these cases and the efforts being made to seek justice for the victims and their families. As the legal proceedings move forward, the Akron community is hoping for accountability and closure in the wake of these devastating events.
