Man Convicted of Fatal Beating in Plymouth with Alleged Fist Bump Cohort Begins Jail Term

Plymouth, England – Two men have been sentenced for their roles in a violent attack that resulted in the death of a 50-year-old man. Cowin Fuoco-Fisher was found guilty of murder, while James Caswell was found guilty of manslaughter. The victim, Stefan Shotton, was left battered and bleeding on a street in Stoke last year, succumbing to his injuries after life support was removed.

During the trial, it was revealed that Fuoco-Fisher and Caswell engaged in a series of escalating confrontations with Shotton, culminating in a fatal assault outside a local pub. The court heard that the victim had allegedly made inappropriate advances towards Fuoco-Fisher’s girlfriend, sparking the violent altercation.

Judge Linford chastised the men for their excessive use of force, noting that Shotton did not deserve to die, regardless of his actions. CCTV footage showed the escalating confrontations between the parties, leading to the fatal attack that left Shotton with severe injuries.

Fuoco-Fisher and Caswell were both held accountable for their roles in the attack, with Fuoco-Fisher receiving a life sentence for murder and Caswell receiving an eight-year sentence for manslaughter. The judge emphasized the devastating impact of their actions on Shotton’s family and community.

Detective Inspector Rob Smith of the Major Crime Investigation Team condemned the brutal attack, emphasizing the tragic loss of Shotton and the devastation caused to his loved ones. He praised the strength of Shotton’s family throughout the trial process and highlighted the severe consequences for those who choose to engage in such violent behavior.

Despite claims during the trial that Shotton was a sex offender, investigations revealed that these allegations were unfounded. The police reaffirmed their commitment to holding individuals accountable for acts of violence and ensuring justice is served for victims and their families.
